Where we came from (Maternal)…

Harry and Clara Sohn had 7 children. When my mother, Tillie was very young, Harry died and Clara, with help from Esther, raised Tillie. I never thought of us as a coherent family, although we were very close with Pauline and Esther. The rest of the family we usually saw only at family weddings and other events.

mother Tillie was born. My grandfather
Harry was a house painter and when
Tillie was very young, he fell off a ladder
and died. My grandmother Clara raised
7 kids. The older kids all helped out.
